The Joint Programming Initiative " A Healthy Diet for a Healthy life" (JPI HDHL) is an intergovernmental initiative by which EU Member States and associated Countries jointly engage in defining, developing and implementing on a variable-geometry basis a shared vision and a common Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) to address major societal challenges in the field of food, nutrition and health that no individual Country is capable of handling independently.

To attain the vision of the JPI HDHL and implement the SRA Joint Actions have been identify in the three key interacting research areas of the JPI HDHL aiming to contribute significantly to the construction of a fully operational European Research Area (ERA) on the prevention of diet- related diseases and effectively integrate research efforts in the food, nutritional, exercise, social and health sciences.

In the 2012-2014 period the JPI HDHL has launched 3 Joint Actions for networking and research projects whose details are reported in the dedicated links. Further Actions have been identified in the Implementation Plan 2014-2015 whose implementation is on progress.
