This workshop on Responsible reseach and innovation for public funders is organized by FACCE-JPI, JPI HDHL, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and JPI Oceans in the framework of the European project FIT4FOOD2030*.
Responsible research and innovation:
• What is it? It implies that societal actors (researchers, citizens, policy makers, business, third sector organisations, etc.) work together during the whole research and innovation process in order to better align both the process and its outcomes with the values, needs and expectations of society. Responsible research and innovation’s key elements are public engagement, open access, gender, ethics, science education and governance. By taking these aspects into account, it aims to make research and innovation more diverse and inclusive, open and transparent, anticipative and reflexive and responsive and adaptive.
• Why is it important for funding agencies? This is becoming essential to strengthen the impact of research and innovation by taking into account societal needs.
