EXPECTED: ERA-NET Cofund Call on Biomarkers in Nutrition and Health

The ERA-HDHL application, an ERA-NET Cofund submitted in the H2020 WP 2015 has been positively evaluated by the European Commission and JPI HDHL is in the process of preparing the Grant Agreement.

Under the frame of ERA-HDHL the cofunded call on Biomarkers in Nutrition and Health will be launched early 2016 assuming that the phase of the Grant Agreement will be successfully completed. The first aim of JPI HDHL is to support research in the field of Biomarkers in Nutrition and Health (BioNH) through a cofunded call. In 2014, a Joint Action has been launched on the same topic, which resulted in 2 research projects (Foodball and Mirdiet) funded with a budget of about 5M€ invested by funding organisations of 11 JPI HDHL member countries. These running research projects will help strengthen the transnational collaboration of the scientific communities in this research area. However, more research activities are needed. The main objective of the ERA-HDHL Cofunded call, expected to be launched early 2016, is to support multidisciplinary transnational research consortia that will use innovative and scientific approaches to increase knowledge on the development and validation of biomarkers for nutrition and health. The cofunded call will encourage the development of improved methodologies for the direct identification and quantification of compounds in complex multi-component foods or diets, the collaboration of researchers with industrial partners and the use of existing research infrastructures, data and sample collections as well as cohorts. Networking between the funded research consortia through the ERA-HDHL cofunded call and the ones funded through the Joint Action on BioNH 2014 will be promoted via the organisation of common meetings to facilitate methodology, data and knowledge exchanges.

More information will be shared through the JPI HDHL website and other communication channels (like twitter and Linked-In) within the upcoming weeks.
