4th ILSI Symposium on ‘Nutrition for the Ageing Brain: from Mechanisms to Sustainability’

The mechanisms contributing to normal ageing are the same as those contributing to the development of neurological diseases. Despite a wealth of data on how nutrients and diets may preserve brain health, the potential of these natural compounds still remains to be fully translated in humans and in clinical conditions. ILSI Europe Nutrition & Mental Performance Task Force embarked on a series of symposia to review the evidence supporting how nutrients, food and diet influence brain health. The upcoming symposium is the 4th edition of a series of events organised in 2014, 2016 and 2018, attracting multi-stakeholder experts from different countries. The 4th symposium will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, on 25-26th June 2020 and it will provide an update on the current state of knowledge on nutrition and neuroprotection, focusing on the following main topics:

  • Latest evidence in molecular mechanisms and epidemiological aspects
  • The Gut-Brain Axis: Evidence of targeting the gut for maintaining brain health
  • Sustainable Food Systems
