Building Momentum: Key Takeaways from the Latest HDHL Management Board Meeting
Last week, the Management Board of HDHL met in Paris to shape the future of the initiative. The meeting brought together representatives from 13 member countries. We were especially pleased to welcome Brazil as an observer for the first time—marking an important step in HDHL’s international engagement. Read about the meeting below.
A New Vision for the Future
This meeting marked an important step forward, with ongoing developments ensuring that our work remains impactful, relevant, and future-proof. The Management Board refined key objectives and governance structures to enhance efficiency. Additionally, key priorities for the coming year were discussed, with ultra-processed foods remaining a focus topic for several activities!
Looking Back
This meeting also marked a leadership transition. Béatrice Morio, HDHL Chair from 2020-2025, reflected on her tenure—having taken on the role at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and successfully navigating two years of virtual collaboration. Under her leadership, HDHL responded swiftly to emerging challenges around the changing EU research landscape during COVID-19, launching the NUTRIMMUNE call. In 2024, HDHL also secured funding for the CSA HDHL Food4Health. Although this was the last physical meeting with Béatrice Morio as our Chair, she will stay on board as Chair until the summer of 2025. After that, she remains actively involved in HDHL Food4Health.
We will welcome Eileen Gibney as the new Chair and Edith Feskens as Vice Chair in the summer of 2025, bringing fresh perspectives and energy to HDHL’s next phase.
