The results of the funded projects under the PREPHOBES call were presented during an online final symposium held on September 16, 2024. The coordinators were joined by funding agency representatives, stakeholders, Early Career researchers, and HDHL Scientific and Stakeholder Advisory Board members.

In 2020, HDHL and its ERA-NET HDHL-INTIMIC launched the research call PREPHOBES. It aimed at preventing unhealthy weight gain and obesity during crucial phases throughout the lifespan. The end term meeting was an opportunity to present the outcomes and developments of the projects and to hear about the needs and opportunities for the future.

The project coordinators from EndObesity, GrowH!, I-PREGNO, and SONUTS showed their research outputs, and outcomes, as well as the stakeholder experience and impact of their project. The four projects were all dedicated to prevent obesity at different life-stages, namely during pregnancy and postpartum period, childhood, the early life-course, and seniors. Applications and multi-disciplinary strategies were developed to prevent and monitor the different age groups during crucial phases. Policy-related recommendations and/or innovative solutions were defined.

The Early career network (ECN) steering committee was invited to share insights on the set up  of the network and the launch in 2023. They did an inventory to evaluate the process and the functioning of the ECN. This network is a dynamic community of early career researchers in nutrition, physical activity, and health. It promotes research skills, fosters collaboration, and offers networking opportunities through online activities and resource sharing.

More information on the project results will be shared soon via the project pages.
