Looking back at the 6th JPI HDHL conference

6th international conference JPI HDHL cover

Although a face-to-face event was not yet possible, the Joint Programming Initiative ‘A Healthy Diet for a Healthy Life’ was proud to organize its 6th international conference digitally on April 20 and 21 of 2021.

We welcomed over 250 participants in our conference platform over these 2 days. The conference theme was based around the 10thanniversary of JPI HDHL: supporting the connection between food and health towards a systemic approach.

The participants could choose between several workshops and inspiration sessions. In plenary Dr Sebastien Treyer delivered a keynote on the first day about pathways to trigger the transition to healthy and sustainable food systems and the strategic role of research in the policy-science interface to achieve this. On day two Prof. John Mathers talked about important developments in nutrition and health research in the past decade, and how we can build on these in the future. And during a lively panel debate, guests from three DG’s of the European Commission were joined by the chairs of our Scientific and Stakeholder Advisory Boards to discuss the development of Horizon Europe and the strengthening of the policy-science-society interface.

10 years of JPI HDHL

During the conference we celebrated our 10-year anniversary and looked towards the future. The JPI HDHL continues to bridge food, nutrition, physical activity and health as a self-sustainable initiative since early 2021.

Want to know more about the achievements of 10 years of JPI HDHL and our vision for 2030? At the conference, we presented two new publications that provide a short overview of our work and some key moments: a leaflet on Ten years of Joint Programming Initiative on Food, Nutrition, Physical Activity & Health Research and a timeline of joint programming activities.
