New call expected: Food Processing Policy Implementation Network
We are pleased to pre-announce the launch of the new joint funding activity: the Knowledge Hub call on ‘Establishing the link between food processing and sustainable food systems’ expected in early January 2026.
Aim
The aim of the call is to establish a transnational, multidisciplinary network to provide recommendations for policy and practice on the link between food processing and sustainable food systems. This Knowledge Hub will bring together leading researchers from different disciplines – including food science, nutrition, public health, behavioural science, environmental science, and economics – to develop a shared knowledge base and provide guidance for policy, research, and innovation.
Funding
Currently, 3 funding agencies from Ireland, Romania and Germany intend to support this call, meaning that only researchers based in these countries are eligible for funding. In addition, a research institute from Belgium expressed its willingness to participate in kind. Researchers or research groups from other countries are also strongly encouraged to submit an Expression of Interest, provided they can contribute their own in-kind resources.
Timeline
The Knowledge hub call will consist of a two-stage submission: an Expression of Interest stage, followed by a procedure that includes a mandatory co-creation network meeting to develop a joint proposal. The deadline for the submission of the Expression of Interest is February 5th, 2026.
