A successful ERA-Net HDHL-INTIMIC PREPHOBES Joint projects' kick-off meeting was held on May 3rd, 2021. In January 2020 the JPI HDHL launched two new calls: PREVNUT, the fifth call organized under the umbrella of the ERA-NET ERA-HDHL and PREPHOBES, the fourth call organized under the umbrella of the ERA-NET HDHL-INTIMIC. There is more knowledge about the link between nutrition and health, than a decade ago when the JPI ‘A Healthy Diet for a Healthy Life’ (JPI HDHL) started. Edith Feskens and John Mathers, chair and vice-chair of the JPI HDHL Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), discuss the scientific achievements and the research objectives for the coming years.
In early November, the six transnational research consortia funded under the umbrella of the ERA-HDHL “Nutrition and the Epigenome” call met for a virtual mid-term symposium. They presented preliminary results of their research on the relation between nutrition and epigenetics and participated in a workshop on generating impact.
On 11 February 2025, the projects funded through the NUTRIMMUNE call held their mid-term symposium at the headquarters of the French National Research Agency (ANR) in Paris. “Just four industries cause 2.7 million deaths in the European Region every year”. This important take-away from the report “Commercial determinants of noncommunicable diseases in the WHO European Region” set the scene for a HDHL-WHO workshop. The final report of this workshop and the main challenges and recommendations is now available.
