Last month, the Strategic Board of the HDHL Food4Health project kicked off during a full day meeting in Brussels.
On 21 April 2026, the HDHL Conference brought together over 150 participants from 23 countries in Brussels to address a central challenge: despite strong scientific evidence on healthy and sustainable food environments, progress in policy and practice remains slow.
“Just four industries cause 2.7 million deaths in the European Region every year”. This important take-away from the report “Commercial determinants of noncommunicable diseases in the WHO European Region” set the scene for a HDHL-WHO workshop. The final report of this workshop and the main challenges and recommendations is now available.
In November 2023, the European Commission published its second report on ’Research and Innovation Pathways for action’. Via our deputy coordinator Jasmina van Driel, HDHL provided input to the seventh pathway ‘Nutrition and Sustainable Healthy Diets’. The report was presented at the FOOD2030 event in Brussels on the 5th and 6th of December 2023.

The Joint Programming Initiative ‘A Healthy Diet for a Healthy Life’ is hosting its 6th International Conference on April 20 and 21, 2021. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference will take place digitally. The programme starts on April 20, from 10.00 to 14.00 CET, and continues on April 21, from 14.00 to 18.00 CET.
Today is World Obesity Day, an annual event that gives the opportunity to raise awareness about obesity and the role it plays in human health worldwide. Due to many misconceptions, obesity is a challenging topic to address. However, we need to talk, debate and inform about obesity in order to shift norms and create a healthier future.
The 6th FOODPathS Funders Forum took place in Brussels on April 23rd and 24th. Attended by a diverse array of stakeholders, funders, policymakers and experts, the two-day event was dedicated to exploring new ways and collecting good practices to implementing Food Systems Approaches within funding cycles.
In 2019, JPI HDHL and its ERA-Net HDHL-INTIMIC organized a call for research projects aimed at better understanding the impact of diet, food components, and food processing on body weight regulation and metabolic diseases related to overweight. The results of the funded projects were presented during a final symposium held on December 5th.
Next week on October 6th 2020, the e-Annual Symposium “Opening the Science of Food” of ILSI Europe, a member of the JPI HDHL Stakeholder Advisory Board, will be held on a virtual platform from 9:00 to 16.30.
On June 2nd, 2022, 60 participants gathered online for the ERA-Net HDHL-INTIMIC STAMIFY Joint projects' kick-off meeting.- HDHL Food4Health produces a range of outputs that support coordination, joint programming, evidence uptake and impact assessment across food, health and environmental domains.
